Located in London’s Canary Wharf, Nora is a new restaurant interior by Ola Jachymiak Studio, where strong architectural curves meet a richly layered, Istanbul-inspired atmosphere. Rather than leaning on overt stylistic references, the studio developed a concept rooted in retro mood and the careful use of materials – one that prioritises warmth, tactility and a bold, expressive atmosphere.
Mid-century proportions and architectural clarity form the backbone of the design, softened and enriched through a carefully curated palette of natural, raw materials and bespoke elements. The walls are cocooned in natural oak timber, lending the interior depth and warmth while creating a generous backdrop against which lighting, furniture and decorative details blend seamlessly. The resulting ambience is vibrant and immersive, conceived as a sensorial setting that enhances the energy of the space and complements the richness of Turkish cuisine.
The design draws on Istanbul’s identity as a city of layers, where cultures, eras and materials coexist. This narrative informs an interior language defined by curves, depth and continuity, pairing clean architectural lines with Antalya-inspired textiles, warm timber tones and subtle references to Anatolian craft traditions.

Designed to accommodate over 100 guests, the interior is organised into three distinct zones, anchored by a central bar positioned at the entrance and visible from every corner. Gentle spatial zoning is introduced through lighting, furniture typologies and a recurring language of curves, expressed across walls, ceilings, bespoke joinery and custom furniture. These sculptural gestures guide movement through the restaurant, breaking down its generous scale into more intimate, human pockets.
Bespoke design plays a central role throughout the space. Custom tables, room dividers, architraves and handles are unified by strong, precisely proportioned curves and finished in a modern oak tone, reinforcing the studio’s commitment to craft, cohesion and detail.
Nora follows Ola Jachymiak Studio’s earlier collaboration with the same clients on the Beam restaurant series, through which a shared design language centred on warmth, comfort and hospitality was established. Building on this foundation, Nora represents a more layered, atmospheric evolution- one that truly comes alive in the evening.
